64 bar music have released their obligatory promo track selection, by way of building buzz for the latest 64 bar challenge mix.
The sixth mix in the series comes out in September, with legendary Ninja Tuner DJ Food at the helm. He described the 30+ tracks that will appear in the mix as “the strongest set yet”.
This is quite remarkable praise when you consider how well received the fifth mix in the series was. It had 500+ downloads within 48 hours.
Without further ado, lets take a listen to the selection.
The promo EP is indicative of the style of beats that will make the mix. Project organiser Kovas explained the choices.
“This EP reflects some of the moods you can expect to hear. There’s a core of electronica in there, with a rich vein or dark beauty running through it.
“Bear in mind none of the guys ever hear the tracks the others are making. It’s interesting how that after six albums, the producers are both making beats that work well together.
“This album has taken six months to put together. It was a tough call to go ahead as I wanted to close the project down after vol5. I figured we wouldn’t be able to top that in terms of quality.
“Turns out I was wrong. I’ve heard all the tracks and there isn’t a single turkey among them, which is quite remarkable.
“Food has the honour of making them work as one. I’ve every confidence he’ll blend them to perfection.”
The mix will be out in September 2011, as ever in the internet age, it’s a free download.
