Oceandrift is a remix chain. What the hell is a remix chain?

Kelp explained: “A remix chain is the process of a second artist remixing a track delivered to them by the first artist, and then passing the stems of the remixed track onto a third artist, and so on. Eventually, the penultimate person passes their remixed stems back around to the original artist, who remixes all the remixes in one track to complete the chain”

Geddit?

“The results are astounding, considering each part of the chain only hears the previous track,” said Kovas, from 64 bar music.

“This is a bit of a break from the norm for 64bar, as the tracks aren’t constrained by the normal parameters of tempo or length.

Oceandrift is a marvelous journey from the opening track, which floats underwater, through hard-edged electronic noise and leading-edge progressive sounds. You can get it right now, here

Lopez – Dropping bombs

Lopez are three DJ/producers originally from Paraguay who have been making beat music for a few years now with releases on Keep Up! and Brownswood.

They lit up 64:5 with three ridiculously hot tracks, and have a pair of EP’s coming out in the next couple of weeks via Junodownload.com so 64bar spent some time chatting to Cosmo Lopez. (that’s the handsome one on the left of the picture above)

And here’s the reveal from their website, “Keep Up! Records unveils brand new signing Bestboygrip complete with his debut EP Fonck. Those with their ears to the ground will be aware that the Germany-based Bestboy is well-known within the drum n bass world under a different moniker. But this is the Bestboy cutting loose for a minute and kicking out some modern disco jams with one foot in the past and the other in the future. This is the sound of an 80s Boogie, Synthesizer, Library Music and B-Movie obsessive.”

“Fonck is the slow-paced opener with heavy-hitting synth drums but reflective keyboard narrative. One of Keep Up! Records’ favourite producers Architeq provides a dubby, spacey remix sounding like something Luke Vibert might have included on his Nuggets Library compilations. On the flipside the pace quickens with the flexible bassline but tight groove of Copyright. The EP closes with the house-tinged Cross My Mind, which builds on the strong melody-lead theme of the other tracks even further with the aid of catchy synth lead and vocal hooks. The Fonck EP sits comfortably next to artists such as Faze Action, LCD Soundsystem and Ilija Rudman. Just the way Keep Up! likes its modern disco.”
